About…

James Dillehay, authorI noticed a cartoon on FB posted from a friend that read “Make America Greta Again.”  I laughed and thought a certain someone who lives in a big White House isn’t going to be happy about that.

The cartoon came out of the media coverage of Greta Thunberg’s climate shaming speech to UN leaders. She tore into politicians about their being all talk and no action to help stop climate change. I wasn’t in her audience, but her words provoked a new line of thinking.

It’s my opinion that businesses, not politicians, are more likely to affect real change. One of my skill-sets was helping others grow a handmade business. Why don’t I do something with what I have?

In one moment, I decided to drop what I was working on—hand making my line of pretty things to sell during the holiday gift-buying season. It was the golden time of the year, when sales were peaking. If I missed it, I would have to wait another year to catch the wave.

Coming February 2020

Instead, I turned to writing a book due out in January 2020 called Start a Creative Recycling Business, 101 Ideas for Making Money from Sustainable Crafts Consumers Crave. I couldn’t wait. One, because I was excited about the project. And two, because too many climate scientists agree we don’t have much time left to make a difference before it will be past the time we can take any action that matters.

You’ve heard Ghandi’s saying, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Maybe the book will help you be the change you would like to see. And maybe your example will motivate others.
